Last time I talked about how it is important to use organic skin care products. You may hear the word "Organic" pretty often and are curious about it. I will explain about, "What is organic?"
Organic produce and other ingredients are grown without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, sewage sludge, and genetically modified organisms. In Japan, organic farming in terms of food is defined by law. All organic crops have a JAS organic seal attached to products produced by farmers who have received a certification from the Registration Authority of Organics Farming. The products which have a seal are very easy to recognize. You may also see the seal during your regular grocery shopping. The number of qualified organic farms is growing year by year.
What is organic is defined for food products. However, there are no standards defined for cosmetics and skin care products in Japan. Because of that, a "package says organic but it is not" situation happened. Next time, I will talk about organic cosmetics and skin care products.
